Recreating our home planet in 3D allows me to capture the planet’s natural beauty in ways that can feel almost like painting the world from scratch. Whether it’s a sunrise casting warm light across continents or the ethereal glow of the Earth at night, each setting allows to evoke different emotions and atmospheres. It’s a powerful feeling to take something as grand as Earth and mold it into a personal visual story.
Rendering the Earth with lifelike clouds, atmospheric scattering and accurate lighting is a challenge that pushes my skills every time. The process of fine-tuning every detail – such as how sunlight interacts with water bodies, how shadows are being cast by clouds or how the atmosphere gently glows along the edges of the planet – is incredibly satisfying ... if mastered. It’s a test of precision, attention to detail and mastery over the software. For planets I mainly use 3ds Max and Blender.
